Our Team

The Retouching Team at Vista plays a critical role in the post-production phase of image creation. The team collaborates with multiple departments, including the Physical Product Team, PPAG, Brand Team, and external partners, to ensure high-quality visuals for all Vistaprint products. Our expertise extends beyond simple corrections; we enhance, smartify (mock-up), and refine images to align with brand standards and customer expectations.

What You Will Do

Retouch images to meet the requestor's needs, including basic color correction, removal of imperfections, and other adjustments as instructed by senior team members.

Use Adobe Photoshop to perform basic image retouching tasks with accuracy, following established guidelines and procedures.

Use AI tools to create and refine images, ensuring alignment with Vista brand guidelines, and make refinements to enhance consistency across products.

Edit images in a timely manner, ensuring that project deadlines are met according to the provided specifications and under close supervision.

Create high-quality mock-ups exclusively for VistaPrint’s website, showcasing products in visually appealing and contextually accurate ways. This task is unique to VistaPrint's retouchers and plays a critical role in driving customer engagement and satisfaction.

Follow established procedures for image editing to ensure quality and consistency, using standard tools and techniques.

Collaborate with the team to maintain consistent style and quality across projects, while learning from team members and taking guidance on best practices.

Project Management: Work closely with other teams to understand project requirements and follow processes for managing image requests, ensuring that all deliverables meet the specifications provided by the requestors.

Scoping for NPI Requests: Participate in scoping tasks for NPI lunch. Assess vendor imagery and decide whether images can be retouched or if new photography is required.

Scoping for PPAG Projects: Support the scoping process by selecting the key colors to be photographed and identifying the most suitable side and angle to achieve the best visual representation and help on the smartification process.

Upload, format, and prepare product photography for use on VistaPrint’s proprietary scene rendering platform, ensuring images are formatted correctly for all VistaPrint’s products.

Creation of Tile-able Assets: Develop tile-able assets to be used for products requiring specific finishes, ensuring they meet quality standards and functional requirements.

Communicate with requestors to understand their basic requirements and follow instructions to meet retouching needs, with support from senior staff as necessary.

Stay up-to-date with trends in the category and attend meetings and stand-ups to learn more about retouching and team processes.

Understand how assigned duties relate to the overall business, learning the connections between image editing and other business functions.

Receive creative guidance from senior team members, including designers, photographers, and senior retouchers, and make adjustments based on their feedback.

Documentation may be required, following instructions to ensure the proper recording of workflows and retouching procedures

Your Qualifications

• Strong technical skills in Mac OS X, Photoshop, and Wacom pen tablet (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript and AI tools.
• Proficient in working in a Windows environment and using PCs, with a willingness to learn more about various operating systems and tools.
• Desire to learn new technologies and applications, with a focus on developing skills in image retouching.
• Basic understanding of masks and masking techniques, with a willingness to improve skills in this area.
• Skilled in using Photoshop’s pen tool at a basic level, working to enhance retouching techniques over time.
• A complete understanding of layers, including modes, adjustments, and structure, and a desire to improve these skills under guidance.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions to ensure consistent and accurate work output.
• Basic knowledge of color theory and color correction techniques, with an interest in expanding this knowledge.
• Good communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and supervisors, asking questions when needed to improve understanding.
• Ability to work under close supervision and follow instructions to ensure that work is consistent with the team’s expectations.
• Knowledge of the Agile culture is a plus, helping you integrate smoothly into team processes and workflows.

Education & Experience

Entry-level knowledge with appropriate licenses/training certifications in Adobe, showing a strong desire to expand expertise in image retouching.

Basic knowledge in Adobe Photoshop required, with a willingness to learn and apply new techniques.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Prior experience working with a digital asset management (DAM) system is a plus, but not required.

Proven ability to work efficiently and produce a high volume of retouched images, learning to meet deadlines and team expectations.

Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, adapting to new instructions and tasks.
