Position Summary

This position is responsible for leading production shifts – including employees and coordinators - according to plant policies and procedures, obtaining and achieving shift targets set forth by Senior Leadership Team, and maintaining cross functional relationships and communication in order to achieve daily and long term plant objectives.

 

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for ensuring shift production metrics are met (print targets and output, productivity, non-prod, reprint rate, and scrap)
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure collaborative approach in order to continuously improve production metrics
  • Responsible for shift and area duties which include: team member training, vacation planning, overtime assignment and planning replacement for absent TMs with assistance from Shift Coordinators
  • Assist coordinators with preparing shift start-ups and shut-downs
  • Communicate key issues and challenges to incoming supervisor at cross-over
  • Operate within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as derived by engineering
  • In conjunction with coordinators, responsible for quality control, adjust as necessary during shift to produce product within specification
  • Maintain high 5S standards throughout each shift
  • Responsible for reviewing and analysing shift reports, and presenting to Senior Leadership Team once per week
  • Conduct regular quarterly one-on-one’s with team members with the objective of goal planning and relationship building
  • Responsible for ensuring team members follow Vista’s Code of Conduct and policies, escalating concerns when necessary to HR
  • Uphold a culture of safety through regular safety inspections – responding to and reporting out healthy issues and infractions
  • Understand the impact of the supervisor position on the company culture – maintaining a positive approach
  • Other duties as assigned

 

What You Need

 

  • Minimum College Degree or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role preferably as a Supervisor and or Team Leader in a large manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures and high-volume production machinery and systems
  • Proven experience related to lean principles and practices
  • Inventory, forklift driving, OSHA courses or training
  • Strong dedication to team member morale, customer service, safety, quality and delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Superior organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Driven and energetic with a strong technical background and understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
  • The ability to perform normal sitting and standing activities and lift to 50 lbs.
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time
  • The ability to actively listening and read comprehensive documents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
