EHS Coordinator

Position summary
The EHS Coordinator will support the development, implementation and monitoring of safety and environmental programs across the facility. This role is responsible for assisting with compliance initiatives, conducting inspections, maintaining records and promoting a strong safety culture. Working closely with the EHS team, supervisors and team members, the EHS Coordinator will help identify potential hazards, support training efforts and contribute to continuous improvement in workplace health, safety and environmental practices
What You Will Do:
- Environmental, Health & Safety Management System: support the maintenance of the safety management system, including document development, revisions, formatting, and annual reviews. EHS Training Program: Continuous improvement and maintenance of; the training matrix, content development, course assignments, training delivery and scheduling, and management of completed training and reports.
- Contractor Safety Management Program: Ensuring all contractors comply with the company’s requirements before entering the site(insurance/WSIB/qualifications), maintaining the program elements to allow team members to effectively invite contractors to the site.
- Joint Health and Safety Committee Support: actively engage in the committee as a support member responsible for minutes, meeting and inspection schedules, data entry, and the subsequent tracking and verification of open and completed actions.
- Chemical Management support: day-to-day management of the WHMIS program, including safety data sheet (SDS) software, and introduction of new chemicals to the site.
- First Aid Room program – monitoring usage and maintenance of suppliesEHS data collection and statistical analysis for EHS Metrics.
- EHS Audits: lead the internal audit process to ensure site compliance with policies and procedures
- EHS-related purchasing activities
- Other EHS-related activities to support the overall success of the organization’s environmental and health & safety program
What You Need:
- Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Health & Safety, Engineering and /or Sciences or equivalent, considered an asset
- 1-3 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety programs
- Knowledge of Ontario Health, Safety and Environment laws and regulations
- Experience with safety management systems and safety auditing programs
- Experience with EHS Software Systems considered an asset
- Ability to positively influence others by developing cooperative networks and building trust at all levels with internal and external partners
- Excellent interpersonal skills - able to deal with a variety of stakeholders
- Superior written communication skills, with the ability to articulate key messages to a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and priorities, well organized and comfortable working with data
- Demonstrated ability to act as a role model with a high level of professionalism, integrity and ethic
