Principal Software Engineer, Infrastructure - Spain, Czechia (Remote)

Our Team

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer with deep expertise in IaC, SRE practices, and platform engineering to join Vista’s Developer Productivity Team. In this role, you will lead the implementation of IaC solutions, ensure high uptime and performance by defining observability best practices, and develop tools and automation that will remove impediments to Vista engineers productivity. You will play a key role in mentoring junior engineers and foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and best practices in software development within the team. You will work closely with Vista’s development teams to understand their needs and help them make use of the platform and tools developed by the Engineering Productivity Domain.

What You Will Do

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of highly reliable and scalable infrastructure solutions using modern IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi)
• Collaborate with engineering teams to build and optimize robust platforms that empower developers and operations teams, providing tools and services that enhance productivity and reliability
• Champion the automation of processes and workflows. Work on the end-to-end development and maintenance of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to facilitate rapid and reliable deployments
• Design and implement effective monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to track system health and performance. Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks and reliability risks, including defining Service Level Objectives (SLOs)
• Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure the infrastructure adheres to industry standards and actively address security vulnerabilities in the platform
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers in software development, infrastructure automation, and SRE best practices. Offer guidance on coding standards, architecture, and problem-solving, while nurturing a growth mindset and fostering continuous learning
• Advocate for and enforce best practices in software development, including clean code, design patterns, testing, version control, and documentation. Ensure that junior engineers follow these practices to maintain high-quality code and sustainable development processes
• Work closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure that infrastructure solutions align with business objectives and that platform architecture is conducive to high performance and scalability

• Extensive knowledge of Python
• Experience with RESTful APIs
• Expertise in building and managing AWS Lambda functions and other AWS Serverless components
• Strong knowledge of IaC including Pulumi, Terraform and CDK
• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
• High Degree of familiarity with containerization and Docker
• Hands-on experience in defining and implementing observability best practices

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, Golang
