Engineering Manager - Spain (Remote)

What You Will Do:

You will be a leader, using your deep JavaScript knowledge on the software engineering team, owning critical, customer-facing parts of the VistaPrint website, including the site homepage (vistaprint.com), marketing landing pages, and the blog. 

• Shape and assess the feasibility of the solutions in the discovery phase in collaboration with your product manager and your UX lead. You are expected to bring ideas to the table and are accountable for the technical feasibility of the proposed solution(s);

• Lead a team of software engineers, owning their career development, performance evaluations, and people management;

• Ensure our teams build software products that meet a high bar for quality, that are robust, maintainable, and well documented;

• This role is hands-on like any other software engineer in your team. Part of your time will be spent in technical work and part in leadership;

• Manage technical and non-technical in partnership with your team’s product manager, collaborating with them and software engineers to ensure the team is focused on solving the most important problems in the best possible way;

• Be a champion for Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion within the team. 

Your Qualifications:

• Previous background in leading a team of software engineers, defining roadmaps, ensuring the team follow best practices in building software products and removing impediments to enable the team to do their best work;

• Experienced in building and managing autonomous teams of 3-5 software engineers, directly or through other leaders, from hiring to mentoring and coaching;

• Proficiency in designing and developing software products and systems in at least one modern software programming language. e.g., JavaScript (React.js), TypeScript, etc; 

• Proficiency in designing microservice oriented architectures and translating roadmap items into high level system designs. 

Nice to Have: 

• Previous background with an e-commerce company;

• Experience building applications on AWS;

• Experience with Agile development;

• Experience building JS pages with Gatsby and Node;

• Demonstrated proficiency in JavaScript technologies.
