About the Role:

This position is responsible for supporting production operations, interacting with various departments and teams to help them understand the current state of operations, implementing step change improvements, and applying best practices on optimizing both existing and new product process flows. Responsibilities involve evaluating equipment, understanding key machine settings, installing control systems and upgrading the process.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Uses lean manufacturing principles to develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods. Also applies knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, documentation, process, and quality control standards.
  • Lead and support the launch of equipment, product, process, continuous improvement and automation projects for production equipment, utilities, and facilities
  • Develop/Prepare Process Designs for both proposals and new projects, to ensure accuracy, competitiveness and compliance with design standards, specifications, relevant codes and EHS requirements in the region.
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain and develop knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities
  • Managing projects in an advanced manufacturing environment to engage and connect with internal and external stakeholders
  • Implementing systems to detect and prevent defects and functionality of equipment by developing process parameters and eliminating/controlling gap conditions for built-in quality.
  • Testing, qualification and product trials of current prototypes, materials, and products
  • Implementing Engineering Change Orders in production
  • Auditing processes to verify its working at the optimum level, throughput rate and quality rate to meet supply specifications
  • Analysing equipment malfunctions and failure modes, also developing, and implementing corrective actions by engaging all stakeholders
  • Use Lean tools and techniques to optimize equipment capacity to drive efficiency and control of the manufacturing cost.
  • Resolve production problems, maximise product reliability also developing cost reduction initiatives while still maintaining quality and productivity
  • Ability to engage and interact with other manufacturing support functions such as engineering maintenance, safety, quality and customer care
  • Functional awareness of requirements for the US and international standards in meeting regulation compliances
  • Application of lean manufacturing principles like Standardised Work (STW), Waste elimination, FIFO, Kanban, Continuous material flow, Mistake proofing, Kaizen, Line balancing, Process Control Plans, PFMEA and SOP's and driving continuous improvement for an incident-free working environment.
  • Applies statistical methods to understand historical production, quality trends, production forecast, process capacity review, the scope of improvement. Also, work with management on prioritizing and planning improvement activities
  • Structured Root-Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) techniques and apply them regularly in a highly structured way, documenting the results and following up on execution and overall equipment effectiveness OEE.
  • Plan, propose and implement new manufacturing technology balancing risk, cost, quality, floor space and product leading to TPM and operational excellence
  • Confers with global teams concerning product design, tooling, and fixtures to ensure efficient production standardisation and methods. Also confers with vendors about equipment, materials and spare parts
  • Manage capacity planning for production lines, ensuring accurate records are kept of the existing layout and providing analysis of long-term requirements based on key inputs from marketing, suppliers and global Cimpress business unit

 

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or industrial Engineering; minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering role; or the equivalent of education and work experience
  • Strong digital literacy and knowledge of FEM/MATLAB/EXCEL, AUTO-CAD, MS Office Suite
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principals
  • Ability to demonstrate task management and timeline control
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels and positions within the organization
  • Ability conceptualises, design and draw
  • Prior experience and knowledge in print, packaging and warehousing is an advantage
  • Great teammate with positive can-do attitude & customer focus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the concepts of lean manufacturing and in project management
  • Energetic and highly motivated, flexible with ‘hands-on’’ approach, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work unsupervised
  • Train others on problem-solving techniques through small-group problem-solving activities
  • Must have excellent communication and project management skills
  • Must have excellent organizational and planning skills with a strong sense of urgency and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a busy work environment with intense periods of activity
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to safely and efficiently perform the job duties
  • The ability to actively listening and read comprehensive documents
  • Some weekend and holiday work may occasionally be required
  • The ability to perform normal sitting and standing activities and lift to 50 lbs.
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time
