Senior Legal Counsel, Privacy & Data Governance - Spain Remote

We are looking for a collaborative, creative and entrepreneurial attorney to lead our Privacy and Data Governance team. The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for developing and implementing our global data protection strategy, serving as a senior advisor to engineering, business and legal leaders across Cimpress, and managing and mentoring the PDG team.
 

The PDG team is comprised of two privacy counsels, two data governance professionals, and a privacy program manager and is part of the global Cimpress Security & Privacy team. The person in this role will lead this team, report to the Chief Security and Privacy Officer, and be a member of the CSP leadership team.
 

What You Will Do:

• Lead the Privacy & Data Governance team, set priorities, and take ultimate responsibility for the completion of team initiatives.
• Assess enterprise privacy risk and provide counsel on risk reduction options, while taking into account business goals and technology constraints.
• Develop and deliver practical, strategic data protection guidance to the central Cimpress Technology team.
• Expand and improve our existing privacy program for Cimpress business units and work closely with local privacy leaders to implement new requirements and risk mitigation strategies.
• Help develop Cimpress Security & Privacy’s long-term strategic goals and coordinate on meeting those goals with the leaders of our Security Engineering and Security Operations teams.
   

Your Qualifications:

• Qualified attorney with 5+ years of data protection experience covering both the EU and US and preferably including work as an in-house attorney.
• Experience managing others and leading cross-functional projects without direct line authority.
• Excellent ability to assess risks and explain legal issues and requirements clearly and concisely to non-legal audiences.
• Comfortable in a fluid, decentralized work environment with a focus on agile software development.
   

Nice to Have:

• Background working with SaaS or e-commerce companies
• Experience with data governance frameworks, PCI DSS, and NIST CSF
• Exposure to data protection issues in other jurisdictions, particularly India
